Opening Scripture

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.

His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.

to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.

Psalm 136:1-9 NIV

Ideas for Prayer

Let us pray for those who have suffered loss during this pandemic.

  • We pray for those who have lost loved ones.
  • We pray for those who have lost jobs.
  • We pray for those who have lost businesses.
  • We pray for those who have lost hope.
  • We pray for those who have lost their homes.

Let us pray to the Lord for mercy and restoration.

  • Lord, may you bring comfort to the grieving.
  • Lord, may you bring new opportunities to the unemployed.
  • Lord, may you bring resources to those who have lost businesses or risk losing them.
  • Lord, may you bring hope to the hopeless.
  • Lord, may those who are without homes find refuge.

Lord, we turn to you and lift our nation and world to you in prayer.

Lord, in your mercy.  Hear our prayer.  Amen.

Reflective Song:

Thank you to our pianist, Gill, for the reflective song, below.  She writes,

“During the pandemic within four months our nation has lost over 44,000 men, women and children. To most of us it seems unreal, until it touches your life. My daughter works as a Registrar and along with her team have registered only deaths until very recently. Each person who died has left family and friends in deep shock and grief, and it deeply affects our registrars and health workers. As you listen to this piece please remember in prayer those who have lost loved ones, lost jobs and businesses and cry out to God that they might know the presence and comfort of our Heavenly Father. That God will restore our Nation once more.”

Song:

The Blessing (Numbers 6:24-26)

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
