Opening Scripture

17 “See, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
18 But be glad and rejoice forever
    in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight
    and its people a joy.
19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem
    and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying
will be heard in it no more.

Isaiah 65:17-19 NIV

Songs:

Faithful one, so unchanging
Ageless one, you?re my rock of peace
Lord of all I depend on you
I call out to you, again and again
I call out to you, again and again

You are my rock in times of trouble
You lift me up when I fall down
All through the storm
Your love is, the anchor
My hope is in You alone

In the name of Jesus,
In the name of Jesus,
We have the victory!
In the name of Jesus,
In the name of Jesus,
Demons will have to flee!

Who can tell of what God can do?
Who can tell of his love for you?
In the name of Jesus, Jesus,
We have the victory!

Ideas for prayer

Please prayer for:

  • The provision of Covid-19 tests for frontline staff and keyworkers.
  • The scientists and volunteers trialling vacines.
  • Wisdom for all world leaders as they respond to the calls for more information.
  • Those involved in managing responses to the coronavirus outbreak in healthcare, charities and other areas.
  • Missionaries whoa re working and witnessing in other countries at this time.
  • Those who may be suffering acute loneliness due to the need for isolation.
  • Those more at risk of domestic violence during lockdown.
  • Those suffering from increased stress, strain and worry in close relationships.
  • Those whose income has been reduced because of the outbreak.

We must also bear in mind that other situations such as war, famine and natural disasters are still occuring during this time and we must continue to hold those things to God in prayer.

Let’s remain thankful, however, for the way steps and sacrifices are being made to shorten this difficult time as much as possible.  Let’s also thank God for how this time is challenging Churches to reach out and respond in new ways.

Reading and Sermon

Song:

Lord, the light of your love is shining
In the midst of the darkness, shining
Jesus, Light of the world, shine upon us
Set us free by the truth you now bring us
Shine on me, shine on me

Shine, Jesus, shine
Fill this land with the Father’s glory
Blaze, Spirit, blaze
Set our hearts on fire
Flow, river, flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
Send forth your word
Lord, and let there be light

Lord, I come to your awesome presence
From the shadows into your radiance
By the blood I may enter your brightness
Search me, try me, consume all my darkness
Shine on me, shine on me

As we gaze on your kingly brightness
So our faces display your likeness
Ever changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here may our lives tell your story
Shine on me, shine on me

Blessing:

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen. (Revelation 22:20-21 NIV)
