Opening Scripture

1 Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Psalm 86:8-13 NIV

Ideas for Prayer

As this week’s sermon comes from Benjamin Francis of BMS, I thought it would be good to include the items from the BMS Prayer Diary for the coming week.  The prayers focus on International Mission Workers.  Please feel free to keep these items in mind during the week ahead.

BMS WRITES:

International Mission Workers are directly recruited and supported by BMS World Mission to work within their own or neighbouring countries. They work as part of the BMS team and bring invaluable local knowledge and expertise in their fields to BMS work.

SUNDAY 5

Carlos Tique Jone works with BMS partner the Mozambican Baptist Convention to deliver development and relief projects. Pray for encouragement as he helps churches equip their communities, and as he leads the BMS team in Mozambique.

MONDAY 6

Kalbassou Doubassou is a nurse-surgeon from Cameroon working in Chad as Director of Guinebor II hospital. Pray for him as he balances the demands of surgery and hospital management, that he would continue to show the love of Jesus to all.

TUESDAY 7

Pray for Genesis Acaye, Programme Co-ordinator for BMS-supported agricultural projects in Gulu, Uganda. Pray for Genesis as he supports farmers in the growing and marketing of their crops, that he would bring great encouragement.

WEDNESDAY 8

Please pray for Benon Kayanja, Co-ordinator for the BMS team based in Gulu, Uganda. Pray for wisdom as he supports projects around the region, and for safety as he visits them.

THURSDAY 9

Pray for Benjamin Francis, a BMS evangelist working with our partner in India. Pray for safety in travel and for boldness in bringing people to faith in Jesus.

FRIDAY 10

Pray for the families of these International Mission Workers, that they would support and encourage their family members and know God’s provision for them.

SATURDAY 11

Pray for more people to serve as International Mission Workers. Pray also for those who are enabling equipped people to serve where God has called them.

Reflective Song:

Thank you to our pianist, Gill, for the reflective song, below.  She writes,

“God calls us into an intimate relationship with Him. This song encourages us to take time out with God to be still, to rest in His presence and to take strength from these moments of quiet stillness. Mark 6:31 “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest”.

Song:

The Blessing (based on Psalm 119:35)

May the Lord direct you in the path of his commands, so that in them you may find delight.  The blessing of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be with you this day and ever more.  Amen.
